Angola is currently hosting the Africa Cup of Nations 2010, which is running from 10 to 31 January 2010.

In Africa this event is seen as the lead up to the World Cup in South Africa, which the internationals along with African nationals will battle it out for the holy grail of football.

African Adventure – Durban South Africa

South Africa – Kruger National Park

The Kruger National Park is a world renowned safari tour destinations and is between Mozambique, South Africa and Zimbabwe – reported to be the world’s greatest animal kingdom.

It is recommended that visitors attend between May and September for the best game viewing, as there is little rain fall and mild temperatures.

The Park has lots to do including self-drive motor routes and twice daily game drives from most camps, along with seven guided wilderness trails, and 4WD routes from some camps. Visitor have the options to stay in a park managed camp, or one of the luxury safari lodges on private game reserve areas within the reserve.

Besides the greatest draw cards leopards, lions, elephants, buffalo and rhino, there are opportunities to see endangered African wild dogs. Bush walks may also enable you to see leopard tortoises, buffalo weaver, ant lions, elephant shrew and rhinoceros beetle, or camp out in the bush. You can even be a ranger for the day, and discover the bush craft skills, animal tracking and game capture.

Mombasa, Kenya – Fort Jesus

In 1593 by order of King Philip II of Spain ( King Philip I of Portugal ), then ruler of the joint Portuguese and Spanish Kingdoms, constructed a fort on Mombasa Island to guard the Old Port of Mombasa, Kenya. The fort was constructed in the shape of a man (when viewed from the air) and was named Fort Jesus in 1837 , after Shaikh Isa Bin Tarif Al Bin Ali Al Utbi conquered it.

The word Jesus in Arabic means Isa, making it Fort Jesus or Fort of Isa (in Arabic ). Isa Bin Tarif , Chief of the Al Bin Ali Al Utbi Tribe , who the fort was named after is a descendant of the original uttoobee conquerors of Bahrain.

The fort boasts some spectacular views and offers a wonderful sound and light show three nights a week. Visitors to Fort Jesus are welcomed into the Fort by guards in flowing robes equipped with flaming torches. They are led to a specially designed and choreographed show that uses lights, sound effects and costumed actors to recreate the long history of the Fort.

Fort Jesus is a National Monument, standing tall over Mombasa Harbour. Visitors can spend a day exploring the gun turrets, battlements and houses within the walls. An excellent Museum and trained guides are also available.
